[Latvia] Latvian Military Museum [Free admission]

As you walk through Riga's Old Town, you'll come across a striking, round brick tower. This medieval structure, known as the Powder Tower (Pulvertornis), was apparently once used as a gunpowder storehouse. Today, it houses the Latvian Military Museum (Latvijas Kara muzejs)! Today, I'd like to introduce you to the Latvian Military Museum! The exhibits are divided into eras, starting with medieval knights and 17th-century wars, and continuing on to the Russian Empire, World War I, and the Latvian War of Independence. Subsequent exhibits cover World War II, the Soviet occupation, the Cold War, and the restoration of independence in 1991. It was like experiencing a condensed version of Latvia's modern history. By the way, there was also information about the Russo-Ukrainian War. The caption on the second tank read, "This exhibit serves as a reminder that Ukraine is also fighting for Latvia's freedom." The exhibits range from guns and medals to military uniforms, photographs, and documents from the period, making it a must-see for anyone, not just military buffs but anyone interested in history. Since admission is free, I stopped by, but the exhibits were so comprehensive that before I knew it, it was closing time. I didn't have enough time to take my time looking around.
