The ancient city of Quzhou beyond its culinary notes

During the Southern Song Dynasty, with the migration of the imperial family to the south, Quzhou became the permanent residence of Confucius' descendants. The city was steeped in Confucian culture, producing numerous talents and preserving a rich historical heritage. More than a hundred historical figures have traveled to Quzhou and left behind poems and writings, with the majority from the Song Dynasty. Notable figures such as Lu You, Yang Wanli, Xin Qiji, and Zhu Xi have all left their marks in Quzhou, either visiting or passing through. With a clear history of over 1,800 years of city establishment, Quzhou is the best-preserved ancient prefecture-level city in the Jiangnan region. The term "Zhengrong" (majestic) is synonymous with Quzhou, highlighting its magnificent natural scenery. The Qu River, an upper tributary of the Fuchun River, flows quietly and deeply, with lush and beautiful banks on both sides. The Qu River winds around the city, and under the Shuiping Gate, one can still feel the profound and heavy atmosphere of this ancient city. Of course, as a historically significant crossroads of four provinces, Quzhou is prosperous and bustling, with a vibrant collision of culinary delights.
