Tianhu Lake in Quanzhou is a less-known destination

The road conditions are good, but there are many sharp turns, including 360-degree hairpins, which make for an exciting drive—just be sure to drive carefully! You can drive to your desired location within the scenic area. There are hotels in the scenic area, but we chose to camp under a wind turbine (though we don't recommend getting too close to the turbines). When camping, don't forget to bring an awning, as the sun is strong and the dew is heavy. It's advisable to bring your own food, as the scenic area only offers instant noodles, corn, and eggs. We cooked hotpot on a cassette stove, which was convenient and delicious, since charcoal fires are not allowed on the mountain and barbecuing is not recommended. A warm tip: There is a significant temperature difference between day and night, and the wind on the mountaintop is strong. In October, the nighttime temperature is around 15 degrees Celsius, so be sure to bring a thicker jacket (a windbreaker is best)! The landscape of Tianhu Lake is like a lottery; the starry sky may appear for ten minutes before a thick fog obscures everything. If you see it, quickly take out your phone and snap pictures—don't miss it. If there's fog, there will be bright sunshine the next day. Just be patient, and you'll see the blue sky and sea of clouds. Starting from Guilin city center, we drove an electric car (fully charged at departure) on national roads without taking the highway. The journey is about 330 kilometers and takes approximately 3.5 hours (prepare to encounter the 'internet-famous road' as you approach Tianhu Lake; it's recommended to stop at a safe place to take photos).
