Reasons to Visit Quanzhou: Kaiyuan Temple

Kaiyuan Temple The main reason for my trip to Quanzhou was to visit Kaiyuan Temple. This ancient temple, over a thousand years old, is renowned for its twin pagodas, which I was eager to see in person. The pagodas lived up to my expectations—they were truly impressive. Their sturdy stone construction exuded strength, and upon closer inspection, the marks of time etched into the structure became evident. The layout of the temple's halls was neat, and the spacious design of the temple grounds made it a pleasant place to walk around. However, it wasn't exactly quiet. The temple was bustling with tourists, and tour groups kept arriving. It was challenging to pause and admire the pagodas amidst the crowd of photographers and groups listening to guides. Despite this, I didn't feel disappointed. The presence of people didn't overshadow the temple's atmosphere. The unique weight and solemnity of this ancient space remained palpable. Whenever there was a brief moment of calm, I found myself appreciating the temple more and more as I took my time to explore and observe.
