Taoist Temple - Yuanmiao Temple

Yuanmiao Temple is the first Taoist temple built after Taoism was introduced to Quanzhou, and also the first Taoist temple in Fujian Province. The architecture of the temple is of the double-eaved hip-and-gable roof style, which is magnificent and resplendent. The six carved dragon stone pillars are very exquisite. The outer walls of the temple are inlaid with stone and brick carvings depicting Taoist stories. There are nine flying eaves and dragon ridges on the roof of the temple, and the ridges are carved with Lao Tzu's alchemy furnace, flying dragons, unicorns, and various Taoist ornaments. Yuanmiao Temple has always been the center of Taoist activities in Quanzhou.
