Taihang Baxing's Taihang Trail – Ancient Yangchang Slope

It got its name because the road winds through the mountains, resembling sheep intestines. The stone inscription is located on the west side of the slope southwest of Wanzicheng. Carved into a cliff face, it measures 1.45 meters high and 3.5 meters wide. It is inscribed with the four large regular script characters "Ancient Yangchang Slope," each character measuring 45 centimeters square. On the right, it is inscribed with the time of the inscription, "Early summer of the first year of Tongzhi, Qing Dynasty," and on the left, it is inscribed with "Inscribed by Jiang Qiling of Quanzhou." Yangchang Slope was a crucial passage on the ancient route. The slope is over 20 kilometers long and about 3 meters wide. Based on the Song Dynasty's official construction, it was rebuilt by the people during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty. It connects Dakou Village in the north and Changping Village in Henan Province in the south. It is a dangerous section of the "Taihang Trail," one of the famous "Taihang Baxing," and a major node of the Ancient Tea Horse Road. It is an important pass and passage through the Taihang Mountains to the Central Plains region of Henan. Merchants from Zezhou in the Ming and Qing dynasties trod this winding ancient road, carrying iron goods and silk from the Ze and Lu regions out of the Taihang Mountains on mules and horses, and transporting tea from Fujian along the Tea Horse Road to Russia. 📌Tips: There is a small parking lot.
