Punakaiki Pancake Rocks & Blowholes

#summervacay Punakaiki is one of New Zealand’s most unique natural attractions, thanks to the layered limestone formations known as the Pancake Rocks. In summer, it’s an ideal time to visit when the coastal walkways are dry and safe. High tide often triggers spectacular blowhole action as water explodes through sea caves. The short loop track offers dramatic ocean views, and the nearby Paparoa National Park provides excellent hikes through rainforest and limestone gorges. Punakaiki combines geology, sea power, and scenic beauty—perfect for families, nature lovers, and photographers.
