Otago's cradle - Maritime Museum

#2月好地方2025 Port Chalmers and its harbour are known as the 'Cradle of Otago'. Port Chalmers is a famous container port, cruise port, and the landing place for immigrants from the British Empire before the 19th century. So the Port Chalmers Regional Maritime Museum has a great collection of maritime objects and settlers' collections, telling the stories of the early pioneers and the many port characters who have lived here over the years. Otago residents are descendants of early settlers who arrived on one of the many sailing ships that docked in the harbour. Many stories have been told; exhibits at the Port Chalmers Museum have been donated by residents and are available for visitors to explore.
