Taiwan is full of hidden gems waiting to be discovered! This time, I unlocked the adventure of Hayou Creek in Pingtung, where I witnessed the legendary colorful rock walls. They were so breathtakingly beautiful that I was left speechless, as if stepping into nature's palette. Truly, it rivals any scenic spot abroad! 🤩 👣 First-Time River Trekking: Adventure Meets Beauty! To reach the most stunning colorful rock wall area of Hayou Creek, you need to go river trekking. We joined a guided tour led by the local indigenous tribe, complete with professional coaches ensuring maximum safety! 👍 Along the way, you'll encounter crystal-clear streams, rocks of various sizes, and some challenging sections requiring both hands and feet. Though it’s a bit demanding, every step is filled with the thrill of adventure! River trekking shoes and life jackets are essential! 🩱🥾 🎨 Colorful Rock Walls: A Masterpiece of Earth’s Art! When you finally see the colorful rock walls, all the effort is worth it! Nature’s craftsmanship is on full display here, with the walls painted in layers of red, yellow, green, black, and white by various minerals. Under the sunlight, they shine with a unique brilliance that’s absolutely awe-inspiring! 📸 No matter the angle, every photo turns out stunning – it’s like capturing a masterpiece with every shot! ♨️ Wild Hot Springs: A Natural Reward After the Adventure! Besides the colorful rock walls, Hayou Creek also features several wild hot springs along the way! After a tiring trek, you can jump into the warm springs for a soak – it’s like a natural spa that instantly washes away all fatigue! Relaxing in the hot springs while admiring the surrounding canyon views is pure luxury! 💆♀️ 💖 Tips for Your Trip: Seasonal Access: The colorful rock walls of Hayou Creek are usually open only during the dry season (around November to May). They are closed during the wet season for safety reasons, so be sure to check the opening times in advance! Join a Guided Tour: You can only join tours organized by the local indigenous tribe. They are familiar with the terrain, provide equipment, and share insights into the local culture. Protecting the environment is also important! Gear Checklist: - River trekking shoes (essential for foot protection and anti-slip) - Swimsuit/quick-dry clothing (you’ll get wet, so bring a change of clothes) - Life jacket (provided by the tour group) - Waterproof backpack/dry bag (for phones, cameras, snacks) - Hat and sunscreen (to protect your skin) - Snacks and drinking water Physical Requirements: The trip requires a certain level of physical fitness, as you’ll need to climb rocks and cross water. Taiwan Indigenous Culture Park

It's about a 20-minute train ride from Kaohsiung to Pingtung Station. From there, it's another hour by bus to reach , located in the Sandimen area in the mountains. Buses don't run frequently, but if you leave in the morning you'll be able to catch the morning performance. We recommend taking the bus bound for Sandimen from the Pingtung bus stop. The park, which comes into view after crossing the beautiful bridge in Sandimen Village, is like a vast open-air museum showcasing the culture and lifestyles of indigenous peoples living throughout Taiwan. The buildings and costumes in the exhibition area are all beautiful, and attention to detail is evident in every detail. The traditional dance performances, held twice a day, are truly impressive. While photography is not permitted, it was a rare opportunity to experience the energy of the singing and dancing up close. A shuttle bus runs within the park, and staff will ask you where you'd like and guide you. The park was uncrowded on the day we visited, and the locals were friendly and helpful, playing Japanese music, giving us a warm welcome. During the walk, you can also enjoy local cuisine, such as steamed rice served in bamboo tubes. A relaxing experience of Taiwanese traditional culture in the quiet mountains was a highlight of my trip. I recommend checking your return bus schedule well in advance. The staff were very helpful, so I was able to return safely. Pingtung's mountainous area is a beautiful area with tropical scenery, including banana and palm plantations. This is a memorable spot where you can experience a different side of Taiwan from the city. #IndigenousCulturalPark #PingtungSights #Pingtung #ZeroYenTripAutumn #ZeroYenTripAutumn2025
