Phra That Cho Hae @ Phrae Province

Wat Phra That Cho Hae, a royal temple, is an ancient and sacred site that has been a symbol of Phrae Province for generations. It is also the designated temple for those born in the Year of the Tiger. Visiting Phrae without paying homage to Phra That Cho Hae is considered incomplete. The name "Phra That Cho Hae" refers to a stupa that enshrines the Buddha's left elbow relic and hair relic, adorned with fine silk cloth as an offering. During my visit, it was the Thai Songkran Festival or "Pi Mai Mueang" celebrated by Northern Thai people. I had the chance to perform the traditional water-pouring ceremony for the abbot of the temple, a long-standing tradition observed only once a year during April 16-17 in Phrae Province.
