Erawan Museum trip

#asiatrip A huge three-headed elephant on an equally gigantic pedestal tells you that you are in front of one of the most important museums in the country: the Erawan Museum of Samut Prakan. The sculpture is in fact the representation of a huge pachyderm 29 metres tall, 39 metres long and weighing 250 tons! The museum houses Thai antiques and artefacts such as Benjarong ceramics, Chinese porcelain, tea services used by the Chakri dynasty, jade ornaments, Chinese furniture and Vietnamese vases. Samut Prakan is also home to one of Thailand's most charming tourist attractions – miniature ancient Siam. #backpacker
