Wat Mahathat, the central temple of Ayutthaya

Wat Mahathat, Ayutthaya Historical Park is considered a very important temple because it enshrines the relics of the Lord Buddha. After the main prang collapsed, the relics were excavated and are currently kept at the Chao Sam Phraya Museum. However, Wat Mahathat is a large temple with many ancient artefacts.
