The Principal Chedi of Wat Kudidao: A Symbol of Prosperity

Wat Kudidao is one of the significant historical sites in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. The Principal Chedi is located behind the ordination hall. Despite its ruined state, it still reflects the grandeur of Ayutthaya-era architecture. This chedi features a bell-shaped design influenced by Sri Lankan Buddhist art, a style popular during the 20th-21st Buddhist centuries. Evidence of multiple restorations can be seen, particularly during the reign of King Borommakot, when the original chedi was encased within a new structure.
