Best Route To Roam Ayutthaiya Ruins

#thailandtrip The temples in Ayutthaya are mostly ruins: some are in relatively good condition, while others are in very poor condition. This was due to the fact that the Burmese invaders almost completely destroyed and looted the city when it was under their control. There are only a few active temples left, where monks still live (meaning ancient, not modern, built in the 20th-21st century). Almost all religious buildings are located in the Old Town, west of the river and the railway. In 1991, Ayutthaya was declared a cultural heritage of all mankind by UNESCO. It is best to explore the sights not on foot, but by renting a bicycle or motorbike. The first one is suitable for those who want only a cursory run through the Old City and get acquainted with the history of the Ayutthaya Kingdom. Unfortunately, you will not see Wat Chaiwatthanaram, Wat Phanan Choeng or Yai Chaimonghon on a bike, since they are located outside the Old City and pedaling in the heat to get to them will be a dubious pleasure. Therefore, if you want to see a large number of temples (especially in 1 day), we strongly recommend renting a motorbike. For those who want to move comfortably, you can recommend a tuk-tuk. The drivers know all the sights perfectly well and will take you from one to the other for a negotiated price. The payment is usually hourly, about 250-300 baht. You can bargain for 2000 baht for the whole day. It is better to arrive prepared and print out a map of all the interesting places in advance. Sometimes it can be taken from motorbike rental points and hotels, but often it will be a black-and-white printout from Google maps, on which it is not immediately possible to make out the inscriptions. As a tip, if you have a vehicle (bicycle, motorbike or rented car), the most optimal route for one day could be as follows: Wat Mahathat. Wat Ratburana. Wat Suwannawas. Wat Thammikarat. Wat Lokayasutharam. Wat Worachettharam. Wat Worapho. Viharn Phra Mongkol Bopit. Wat Phra Si Sanphet. Wat Chaiwatthanaram.
