The architectural style is influenced by Khmer and Ayutthayan design, showcasing intricate details and decorative elements. During the Burmese invasion in 1767, the temple suffered damage, and its structures were partially destroyed. However, the ruins of Wat Chaiwatthanaram remain an impressive and historically significant site within the Ayutthaya Historical Park. The temple reflects the grandeur of Ayutthayan architecture and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
