The underrated hidden gems around Bangkok for tourism

Every time I return to Bangkok, I make sure to spend a day in Ayutthaya for lunch and a leisurely stroll. 📍 Ayutthaya is an ancient capital with a long history. It rose to prominence in 1350 and over the course of 417 years, it saw 33 monarchs until its fall in 1767 when the Burmese army captured Ayutthaya, marking the end of the Ayutthaya Kingdom. After the kingdom was reestablished by King Taksin, the capital was moved south. The original royal capital's ruins are now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 🚙 It takes about an hour and a half to drive from Bangkok, and a private car hire for a day with a choice of three attractions costs approximately 3500 baht for 2-4 people. 💕 The midday heat can be intense, so it's best to find a riverside restaurant or coffee shop for a leisurely lunch and a cold drink between 1200-1430 before heading out again.
