Phra That Chom Thong Temple

The story of Phra That Chom Thong is told that during the time of the Buddha, the Buddha had traveled to spread Buddhism in Phukamyao and stayed overnight on a mountain located on the northern bank of Nong Eiang, which is Doi Chom Thong, where Phra That Chom Thong is located. He gave the hair relic to King Ashoka, but King Ashoka gave it to a goldsmith who had offered food to the Lord Buddha. The goldsmith buried the hair relic in a pond more than 70 meters deep and built a pagoda to hide it. Later, the three monks, Khru Ba Sriwichai, Khru Ba Kaew, and Khru Ba Panya, worked together to restore the pagoda, which has remained until today. #Phayao
