Aurlandsfjord, Norway

#tripcom5thAnniversary Aurlandsfjord is a fjord in Westerland county in eastern Norway. The fjord flows through the municipalities of Aurland, Vik and Lærdal. This 29 km long fjord is an offshoot of the main Sognefjord, Norway's longest fjord. The fjord is deep and narrow, with the deepest point reaching about 962 meters below sea level and the width generally less than 2 kilometers. The village of Flåm is located at the deepest point of the Aurlandsfjord. Other villages along the fjord are Aurlandsvangen and Undredal. Most of the fjords are surrounded by steep mountains up to 1,800 meters high, and there is almost no human habitation along the fjords, except in a few small valleys.
