I went to Yamanami, a roadside station in Sanbongi, Osaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, located along National Route 45. It's packed with locally produced vegetables and local sake, and there's also a spacious restaurant. Another nice feature is that it has tatami seating. There's also a snack corner, and the sunflower soft serve is a limited menu item only available here. It's made by kneading roasted and crushed sunflower seeds into a caramel-flavored soft serve. Sanbongi is famous for its sunflower hill, and there were also some intriguing menu items such as sunflower donuts and sunflower waffles. The parking lot is spacious, and there are many chairs and tables that can be used freely both inside and outside the premises. This is a roadside station that's recommended for people who want to enjoy a leisurely meal and for those who are just a little hungry.
