Osaka Review: A city that makes us fall in love as easily as takoyaki When it's hot and you bite into it, you'll find squid! If we had to choose a city that's cute, warm, colorful and has the smell of food floating around all the time, day and night... We'd like to give "Osaka" the number 1 spot in our hearts. This city has an unadulterated charm. It's not as big as Tokyo It's not as quiet as Kyoto, but it's just right in its own way. Whether you come with friends, lovers, family, or even alone, Osaka can make you smile easily without trying. ⸻ 🌟 Start the cuteness from the first step As soon as I stepped foot in Kansai Airport, my first feeling was "It's really Japan!" Everything seemed orderly, people were smiling, and even the sound of the train seemed cute for some reason. We took the train into the city and got off at Namba which is like the center of Osaka. Accommodation, shops, department stores, restaurants, everything is in this area. ⸻ 🍡 Dotonbori - A district that is never quiet A few minutes walk from Namba Station, we arrived at Dotonbori with the friendly Glico Man sign waving his arms 555 There were a lot of people but it didn't feel crowded at all. Everyone was having fun taking pictures looking for food and looking at the beautiful river view at night There were so many street food stalls to choose from. We started with hot takoyaki stuffed with squid and sprinkled with dried fish on top that danced with the heat... Oh my! It was so delicious that I had to stand and eat it while smiling to myself 😆 ⸻ 🧁 So much food that you have to bring a spare stomach This place is truly a foodie's paradise! Let's see what we tried and loved: • Okonomiyaki: Japanese pizza with pork, squid, cabbage and cheese, topped with sweet sauce and mayonnaise. It's a sliced ​​happiness! • Kushikatsu: Deep-fried skewers, dipped in sauce once in a lifetime (because the rule is you can't dip it twice!), crispy, salty, fragrant, so good • Japanese sweets: There's an egg pudding shop, green tea mochi, and red bean fish cakes Every bite makes you feel like you're back in kindergarten again 🥹 • Sushi: There are sushi conveyor belt restaurants that are not expensive at all. Plus, the quality is so fresh that I want to buy rice balls back to Thailand to give to my friends. ⸻ 🎢 Universal Studios Japan (USJ) – The world of dreams A theme park that everyone must visit! We bought tickets in advance online to avoid long lines (highly recommended) because there were a lot of people here, but everyone was lovely and very orderly. The highlights of USJ for us are: • Harry Potter Zone: When you walk in, you get goosebumps! The music, the atmosphere, the magnificent Hogwarts Castle And you can try Butterbeer too. • Minion Park: This zone is the cutest in the universe! There are colorful rides and Minions everywhere. You can take endless photos. • Super Nintendo World: It's like you've really entered a Mario game. The sound effects, building scenes, and the mushroom castle are so cute. It's recommended to bring your phone, charge it well, and download the USJ app. Because it will clearly show the ride times, queues, and maps. ⸻ 🏯 Osaka Castle – Classic and calming After the chaos, we chose to chill at Osaka Castle A historical place that is still as beautiful as a postcard Walking in is like going back in time to the samurai era Surrounding it is a peaceful park where people come to walk, ride bicycles and bring their dogs to run around. If you come when the leaves change color or the cherry blossoms bloom, it will be even more beautiful and breathtaking 🥺🍂 ⸻ 🧸 Kuromon Market – Foodies must come here! This market is cute in both its atmosphere and food! Fresh seafood, fragrant grilled scallops, grilled wagyu skewers, and large pieces of sweet eggs, extremely sweet and mellow. We ate a large peach (in Japan, it is called "momo") and felt like the whole world had turned into a sweet, pink, bright and warm. It was so good that we had to buy another one to take back to our accommodation 🍑 ⸻ 🛍️ Cute shopping at Shinsaibashi If you are a fashionista, a trinket lover, or a lover of unnecessary things but bought because they are cute, you must come to walk around Shinsaibashi! There are: • Stationery stores (Found a pen with a smiley face!) • Local brand clothing store • Japanese cosmetics store • Unusual themed cafes such as a bear cafe, a white minimalist cafe, and a Kyoto-style green tea cafe ⸻ 🌇 Umeda Sky Building – The most romantic viewpoint This building is very tall! Take the glass elevator to the top floor and walk the open-air Sky Walk You will see a 360-degree view of Osaka. At night, it is the most romantic. The city is full of twinkling lights like an anime world. If you go with someone you like, it will be very romantic. If you go alone… you can be romantic with yourself too 😳💕 ⸻ 🎀 Feelings from the heart… Osaka is a very “kind” city. This city does not only welcome us with the smiles of the Japanese people. But it also welcomes us with the smell of takoyaki, the sound of the Dotonbori River, and the sight of people living a slow but happy life. It is a city that truly allows us to “rest”. Relax from exhaustion, rest from thoughts, rest from sadness.
