Deep Autumn at Osaka Castle Park

Osaka Castle Park is one of my favorite historical sites in Japan. This 106-hectare oasis is located in the heart of Osaka, the food capital. Here, the majestic Osaka Castle stands tall, telling the glorious history of its construction by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1583. Every November in late autumn, strolling along the park paths, the most enchanting sight is the red and yellow leaves everywhere. Especially the ginkgo trees in the park, whose leaves turn a brilliant golden yellow, contrasting beautifully with the deep red maple leaves, reflecting a splendid autumn scene in the clear moat water. I love visiting in the early morning when there are few tourists, and the morning light filters through the leaves, casting a serene and romantic atmosphere on the stone paths. Passing through the many gates and stone walls of the castle, each step feels like a journey back in time. These massive stone walls, built with giant stones, have stood the test of centuries, showcasing the craftsmen's wisdom. I often stop to observe the gaps between the stones, imagining how the craftsmen perfectly pieced these giant stones together back in the day. Nishinomaru Garden is my favorite place to rest. Here, you can not only enjoy the meticulously trimmed Japanese garden but also have a perfect view of Osaka Castle. Every time I come here, I choose a quiet corner to savor Kansai specialties like Akashiyaki or kushikatsu, feeling the tranquility and elegance of autumn. Another great advantage is the convenient transportation. It is easily accessible from Tanimachi 4-chome Station or Morinomiya Station. Although the park is free to enter, tickets are required to visit the main keep and certain gardens. I recommend visiting in the morning to avoid the crowds and capture the most beautiful morning light and autumn colors.
