Wat Chaloem Phrakiat Worawihan

Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat Worawihan, a beautiful temple on the banks of the Chao Phraya River Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat Worawihan was built in 1847 as a royal temple, an important temple of the city for 143 years. King Nangklao, Rama III, ordered its construction to offer to his grandfather, grandmother, and mother at the old fort (Phrom Thap Thim from the Ayutthaya period) located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River. Inside Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat Worawihan, there is a chapel built in a Thai-Chinese style, following the royal preference. The roof is covered with Chinese corrugated clay tiles. The gable is decorated with brightly colored glazed tiles in the pattern of jasmine leaves. The gable and raka are decorated with alternating colored glazed tiles from China. The door and window arches are decorated with stucco moldings in the shape of jasmine leaves and flowers. Inside the chapel, there is the Phra Phuttha Maha Lokapinantha Patima, a Buddha statue in the Mara-Vijaya attitude cast entirely in bronze. It is the principal Buddha image. In addition, there are two other buildings built on either side of the chapel. That is the temple or the White Stone Temple, where the "White Stone" and the royal ordination are enshrined. Inside is the "Phra Phuttha Patima Chaiwat". Behind the ordination hall is a Sri Lankan-style pagoda with a two-tiered octagonal base. Inside is the relics of the Lord Buddha.
