Phra That La Nong, Nong Khai Province

Phra That La Nong or Phra That Klang Nam is located in Tambon Hat Kham. In 1847, the Phra That was eroded by water and collapsed into the Mekong River, approximately 200 meters from the shore. Inside the Phra That are enshrined 9 Phra Borom Thats of the Footprints. According to the legend of the Urankathu (Phra That Phanom), an underwater survey by the Archaeological Unit 7 found that the Phra That has a base 17.2 meters wide on each side, tapering at the base, and 28.5 meters high, broken into 3 pieces. It is assumed that it was built around the 20th-22nd Buddhist century because it has a shape similar to Phra That Bang Phuan. Currently, a Phra That La Nong or Phra That Klang Nam (replica) has been built so that future generations can remember the long-standing relationship between the people on both sides of the Mekong River. #MongTakesYouTo
