Visit Neihu Yuanjue Temple

Located in Neihu District, Taipei City, Yuanjue Temple was established in 1924 and is the earliest Buddhist temple in the Neihu area. Originally named Yuanshan Hall, it is situated halfway up Bishan Mountain, facing Liyu Mountain. The temple enshrines the statues of the Three Treasures Buddha, Shakyamuni Buddha, and Guanyin Bodhisattva. The buildings are mostly constructed with sandstone strips, giving it a simple and serene environment. The front hall is the Mahavira Hall, and behind it to the right is the Ksitigarbha Hall, which enshrines the Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. The surroundings are tranquil, and there are many nearby tourist attractions, such as Yuanjue Waterfall, Zhongyong Mountain, Liyu Mountain, and Bishan hiking trails. Many visitors and pilgrims come to worship here. The temple was originally located in a barren mountain area. In 1924, Master Dajing, who resided at Bishan Rock, generously initiated the construction of the temple with the support of philanthropists such as Ye Shuiqian from Keelung Zhuangjing. They cleared the thorns, cut the grass, chiseled the mountain rocks, and gathered materials to start building the temple. It is worth noting that the sound of chanting can be heard around the temple. It was later discovered that there are speakers (as shown in pictures 13, 14, and 17) around the temple playing the chanting sounds. The atmosphere created is very solemn and respectful.
