Phra That Renu, Nakhon Phanom Province

Phra That Renu      Location: Wat That Renu, Tambon Renu, Amphoe Renu Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom Province        History: Phra That Renu was built by the abbot, Upachaya In, and the assistant abbot, along with laypeople. The purpose of the temple was to be a sacred chedi for the people of Renu. When it was completed, it was struck by lightning and collapsed. Both the monks and laypeople joined hands to build another chedi by making the bricks thicker. When it was completed, a celebration was held in 1920.        Evidence: Phra That Renu is a rectangular chedi, which was a replica of the original Phra That Phanom, but smaller. It is 35 meters high and sits on a square base 8.37 meters wide on each side. Inside, it contains the Tripitaka, gold Buddha images, silver Buddha images, and various valuables.
