Shuri Castle Park

Shuri Castle Park is an incredible place to see cherry blossoms while experiencing Okinawa’s rich history. Though the main castle structures are still under restoration, the surrounding park remains open and is a fantastic spot for hanami. The pink cherry blossoms contrast beautifully with the red and white colors of the castle gates and walls, creating a stunning scene. I visited in late January, and the blossoms were at their peak, making the historic pathways even more picturesque. The park also offers great views over Naha, especially from higher points. Since it’s one of Okinawa’s most famous landmarks, it can get busy, but the large open spaces make it easy to find a quiet spot. I loved the mix of culture and nature here—walking through the historic grounds while admiring the cherry blossoms was a memorable experience. Definitely a must-visit for first-time travelers to Okinawa.
