It is a pailou-type tower gate located on the east side of "Ayamon Avenue" that runs east-west through Shuri, outside the Shuri Castle Kankaimon Gate, and its dazzling vermilion color. The "Old Shuri Castle Shureimon Gate" was built between 1527 and 1555, was destroyed during the Battle of Okinawa, and the current gate was restored in 1958.
