Fuku no Yu: A Perfect Night of Delicious Food and Soothing Soaks

We visited Fuku no Yu during our time in Kyushu and decided to have dinner there before heading into the onsen—and honestly, it was the perfect combination. The dining area had a casual, cafeteria-style setup, but don’t let that fool you—the food was amazing. We were genuinely surprised by the quality. The menu had a wide variety of options, from comforting Japanese set meals to freshly fried tempura and udon. Everything we ordered was delicious, hearty, and really reasonably priced. It felt like a proper home-cooked meal, and clearly popular with the locals too, because the dining hall was buzzing. After dinner, we headed into the onsen. The entrance fee was affordable, and the facility was clean and well maintained. The bath area had plenty of space, and we really enjoyed the variety of tubs—indoor baths, jet baths, a sauna, and best of all, a large outdoor rotenburo. Soaking in the warm water under the night sky after a satisfying meal was just the kind of relaxing moment we needed. The atmosphere overall was down-to-earth and authentic, more of a local neighborhood onsen than a touristy hot spring resort, which we really appreciated. The staff were friendly and helpful, and everything from the meal to the bath was easy, comfortable, and enjoyable.
