Nagasaki Itinerary: Attractions, Hotels, Atomic Bomb Museum, Free Admission

After arriving at Tosu Station from Yufuin no Mori, we transferred to the Relay Kamome and Shinkansen trains to Nagasaki. We bought a one-day tram pass and checked into our hotel before heading to today's attractions: Shinchi Chinatown and Megane Bridge. I visited these two spots last year during my solo trip, but this year I'm bringing my family. Since our stay in Nagasaki is short, our schedule is tight, and we have less time for photos. After visiting Megane Bridge, we went to the Atomic Bomb Museum. This part of the trip was more somber but highly educational. The impact of seeing artifacts and striking black-and-white photos in person was much stronger than just hearing about it in history class. The brutal images of war serve as a stark reminder of the painful lessons we must never forget. The atomic bomb was dropped towards the end of World War II. On August 9, 1945, the U.S. military dropped the second atomic bomb on Nagasaki, leading to Japan's surrender. Our visit to the Atomic Bomb Museum coincided with August 9, so the museum extended its closing time to 8:30 PM, and admission was free.
