Shimen Plank Road | The thrill of an ancient path on a cliff

#September2025 The Shimen Plank Road winds its way between cliffs, like a long scroll of history suspended in mid-air. The stone walls are as sharp as a knife, and the wooden plank road hugs the cliff face, leaving a bottomless valley beneath. Along the way, towering pines and misty clouds drift by, making every step a heartbeat, yet the urge to stop is irresistible. Originally built in ancient times, the plank road served as a vital transportation route during the Qin and Han dynasties, and it still retains its rich historical traces. Walking along it, the whistling wind lingers in my ears, almost as if I could hear the clatter of horse hooves and the calls of ancient merchants. Standing atop Shimen, overlooking the mountains, a sense of grandeur wells up in my heart: courage and grandeur can, in the same instant, merge into poetry.
