Visit the Hakka Museum of China and experience the charm of Meizhou

Meizhou is known as the 'World Longevity City' and the 'World Hakka Capital' and is also a cultural capital. It has been home to many scholars and officials throughout history. With the opening of the Meilong High-Speed Railway, it has become more convenient to travel to Meizhou from other cities. Based on my personal experience, even just for the food, it is worth a special trip. A trip to Meizhou should include a visit to Hakka Park, located at No. 2 Dongshan Avenue in Meijiang District. The main part of the park is the Hakka Museum of China. Besides the main museum, there are also the Huang Zunxian Memorial Hall, the University Presidents' Hall, and the Generals' Hall across the river. The Huang Zunxian Memorial Hall consists of three parts: Renjinglu, Ronglu Di, and Enyuan Di. Who is Huang Zunxian? He is one of the Eight Sages of Meizhou and was an outstanding diplomat, thinker, reform pioneer, and patriotic poet in modern China. He is known as the 'first person to lead modern China to the world.' Renjinglu was where he used to study, and Ronglu Di was his former residence. All three ancient buildings have a strong Hakka classical style, but the details are different. My favorite is Renjinglu, which is not large but very exquisite. Next to the Huang Zunxian Memorial Hall is the University Presidents' Hall, which has a two-entry, two-story, two-horizontal, four-courtyard layout. The overall layout is elegant and generous, mainly introducing and displaying the deeds of university presidents from Meizhou since the late Qing Dynasty. The main hall of the Hakka Museum is a modern building that comprehensively displays the cultural origins and development of the Hakka people. It houses many precious cultural relics, and the combination of pictures, texts, real objects, and wax figures makes the history of Hakka culture in Meizhou more three-dimensional.
