Fabulous Novotel

I’ve stayed at this hotel many times, & it has a lot of very good things going for it. To name a few; it’s attached to one of the most popular & beautiful malls in the city of Medellin, called Centro Commercial El Tesoro. So, you have at your fingertips great shopping, as well as many restaurant dining options here. The rooms are very comfortable, & come with breathtaking views of the valley of Medellin. The buffet breakfast each morning is average & certainly nothing to complain about, but nothing outstanding either. The bar upstairs is nice & with great views. However, hardly anyone is ever there. The pool area is small, but with great views of the city. Unfortunately, there’s a lot of constraining pool rules & regulations. Hotel security monitors the pool area closely, so that you don’t bring anything to eat or drink with you & there is nothing available to order, while you’re in the sunny heat at the pool. I’ve been to this pool many times & I’ve never seen people stay for long because it’s really not a cozy area. Even though it could be a very beautiful & fun experience, the confining rules & regulations make Novotel’s pool area a hostile environment & not enjoyable, nor good for relaxation, or especially rehydration! The hotel gym is less than basic & I looked at it once & I immediately knew that there is very little in there for me. I enjoy weight training & cardio & the gym is incredibly limited. The staff at the hotel is very friendly & even the security at the pool is polite, even when they tell you “No” to even having a drink of water, while at the pool. For a hotel pool experience in Medellin, I definitely recommend the InterContinental Medellin, because it is truly a resort property & they have poolside dining, with poolside waiter service. I’d stay here again, at this Novotel. But, there are better options in the city for a more well rounded hotel experience. #hotelreview
