The entrance to the Sassi area is free, but I paid around €10 for a guided tour that was well worth it for the rich historical context. Wandering through the winding streets of the Sassi di Matera felt like stepping back in time. The ancient stone houses, carved directly into the rock, are incredibly well-preserved and give the city a unique charm. 🏡🔦 I also explored the nearby Matera Cathedral, which boasts stunning views over the city and the surrounding valley.
