Learning Sweet Moments in Simple Living at the Tak-Myanmar Border

Staying overnight in a small village on the Tak-Myanmar border was one of the most grounding and beautiful experiences. The village had a raw, untouched charm—red soil paths winding between humble wooden homes. The sky seemed to mirror the earth, glowing a deep red during sunset and blending seamlessly with the land. It felt like stepping into a painting. Walking along the dirt paths, we spotted mulberry trees heavy with ripe fruit. The locals encouraged us to pick them, and soon, our shirts—turned into makeshift baskets—were full. The mulberries tasted incredibly fresh, like nature’s own candy. It was such a simple yet joyful moment that made me feel deeply connected to the land. Life here was humbling in its simplicity. We cooked dinner using the most basic facilities—an open fire and fresh local ingredients. It was a slow process, but that’s what made it so special, as we all gathered to make things happen together. If you’re planning to visit, bring slippers. The weather is warm and dry, and you’ll want to dip your feet into the streams. Slippers are perfect for this. Also, pack light but don’t forget a flashlight—nights can get very dark. Staying here was a reminder of how beautiful life can be when stripped down to its essentials. When you visit, you’ll see that a quiet, off-the-beaten-path experience like this one will stay with you long after you leave.
