Ban Mae Kampong, Chiang Mai

Ban Mae Kampong is a popular tourist destination in Chiang Mai. This small village promotes eco-tourism and is nestled among mountains and nature at an elevation of approximately 1,300 meters above sea level. The village is over 100 years old, with most residents having migrated from Doi Saket District. The houses are built along rivers and streams amidst lush nature, and the villagers lead a simple lifestyle. The weather is cool and pleasant year-round, with particularly cold temperatures during the winter season. The main occupation of the villagers is producing miang (fermented tea), with coffee cultivation as a secondary occupation. Visitors can either take a day trip or stay overnight at one of the more than 20 homestays available in the village. However, there are no hotels or resorts here. Note: Previously, there were accommodations in the Royal Project at Teen Tok before reaching Ban Mae Kampong, but as of August 2018, these accommodations have been closed.
