Maastricht's famous cafe and coffee roaster

It was opened in 1878 in Maastricht, southern Netherlands, and has been a family business until today. In addition to producing and roasting its own brand of coffee, it is also a tea packer or tea leaf packager. In Maastricht, there are two Blanche Dael shops: the one in the city center on Wolfstraat, which sells coffee beans and tea leaves for takeaway, and the Blanche Dael Branderij, a roaster and coffee shop on Brikkebouw Street near the Sphinx parking lot. This branch offers a full-service café, beautifully decorated and comfortable, spacious, with lots of seating. There are food and snacks to order to eat with the shop's coffee and tea, and there are also tours inside the roastery. If you are interested, you can book a reservation on the brand's website. This time, we stopped by the Brikkebouw branch for a light afternoon meal. We ordered the following food and drinks: ➡️ Beemster kaas, livar ham A toast sandwich filled with grilled ham and cheese, served warm enough to make the cheese melt. Served with tomato sauce with fragrant curry powder, it goes well together. ➡️ Limburgse Vlaai This is a famous pie recipe from Limburg province, which the shop gets from the bakery Bakkerij Lemmens. This pie has many types and fillings. The shop recommended cherry filling, so we ordered it to try. The highlight of this pie is the texture and the smell that is half pie, half cookie. The crust on top of the pie is slightly crispy, the inside is soft and light, sprinkled with sugar on the surface, the taste is sweeter than normal pies. But when the filling is sour dried fruit, it goes well together. ➡️ Lungo Hot coffee with a choice of coffee beans, whether you want fruity or chocolate notes. We chose fruity, served hot, beautiful golden crema, medium body, slightly sour, very good. ➡️ Iced Latte Iced coffee with milk, beautifully separated layers, strong aromatic coffee, no added sugar, very refreshing. #TravelNetherlands #TravelEurope
