Trip to Maastricht 🇩🇪

It was a weekend getaway to Maastricht, Germany. We started our day in Maastricht by visiting the Vrijthof, the city's most famous square. Surrounded by historical buildings, including the stunning St. Servatius Basilica and St. John's Church with its distinctive red tower, we wandered around, soaking up the lively atmosphere. We explored its fascinating collection of fossils, including the famous Mosasaur skeleton. We climbed to the top for a view over the old city walls and imagined what life would have been like during medieval times. Nearby, we found the lovely Jekerkwartier, a district with narrow cobbled streets, historic buildings, and small boutiques. We enjoyed wandering through its quaint alleys and discovering unique shops 🏬 📍Sint Bernardusstraat 24B, 6211 HL Maastricht, Netherlands* We tried a restaurant, Café Sjiek and ordered the Maastrichtse Ragout (a local meat pie)🥧 . These limestone caves are filled with a network of tunnels created by centuries of mining. I would recommend the three-course menu featuring seasonal ingredients.
