Stunning Lushan Sunset Viewing Spots

1. Lushan Hanpoukou Named for its "momentum embracing Poyang Lake and spirit swallowing the Yangtze River," it is an excellent place to watch the sunrise and enjoy the sea of clouds on Lushan. In the early morning, mist rises from Poyang Lake, creating a charming scene with the distant Wulao Peak. When the rosy light penetrates the clouds, the entire valley looks like a fairyland. 2. Lushan Sandiequan Waterfall Known as "Lushan's Number One Wonder," the spring water cascades down the cliff in three stages, with a total drop of 155 meters. During the abundant water period in spring and summer, the waterfall resembles a pouring Milky Way with roaring water sounds; in autumn, red leaves adorn the cliff walls, contrasting sharply with the white waterfall, showcasing majestic beauty. 3. Lushan Guling Town Built at the summit of Lushan at an altitude of 1,474 meters, it is the highest mountain town in China. The town features European-style buildings with red tiles and stone walls arranged neatly, clean and quiet streets, and an average summer temperature of 22°C, making it a natural summer resort. At night, you can overlook the thousands of lights below the mountain. 4. Lushan Jinxiugu Valley About 1.5 kilometers long, it is a canyon formed by a fault. The valley is filled with strange pines and rocks, with rhododendrons, crabapples, and other flowers blooming year-round. Walking through it feels like being in a painting. The "Fairy Cave" is hidden in the valley, with cliffs beside it that are extremely steep and dangerous. 5. Lushan Xilin Temple Founded during the Jin Dynasty, it is one of the oldest temples on Lushan. The Xilin Pagoda (Thousand Buddha Pagoda) inside the temple is made of brick and stone and has stood firm through thousands of years of wind and rain. The famous line by Su Shi, "One cannot recognize the true face of Lushan," originated here. Climbing the pagoda offers a panoramic view of Lushan. 6. Lushan Huajing (Flower Path) Located southwest of Guling Street, it is where the Tang Dynasty poet Bai Juyi admired peach blossoms and wrote the poem "Peach Blossoms at Dalin Temple." The garden has a vast peach blossom forest that blooms like clouds and rosy clouds in spring, complemented by pavilions, flowing water, and winding paths, fully displaying the elegance of Jiangnan gardens. 7. Lushan Fairy Cave A natural granite karst cave with the inscription "Buddha’s Hand Rock" at the entrance. Inside the cave is a stone statue of Lü Dongbin. On the cliff outside the cave is the stone carving "Overlooking the Flying Clouds," a popular spot to watch the sea of clouds and sunset glow. When mist swirls, it feels like being in a fairyland. 8. Lushan Wulao Peak Named because the five peaks resemble five elderly men sitting side by side, with an altitude of 1,436 meters. The peaks are steep and towering, with jagged rocks. From the summit, you can overlook the entire Poyang Lake. When the sea of clouds surges, the five peaks appear to float above the clouds, creating a magnificent scene. 9. Lushan Ruqin Lake Named for its violin-shaped surface, it is the largest alpine lake on Lushan. The water is clear to the bottom, surrounded by green mountains, with willows by the lakeside. The island in the lake is connected by a nine-bend bridge. At dawn or dusk, the lake’s reflections and light interplay, creating a tranquil and beautiful scene. 10. Lushan Botanical Garden China’s first alpine botanical garden, it has collected and cultivated thousands of plant species, including rare varieties. The garden is filled with verdant pines and cypresses, exotic flowers, and plants. The sea of rhododendrons in spring and the red leaves in autumn are especially charming, making it a great place for science education and sightseeing.
