✨ “Shadows Painted in Light: An Evening at Lilu Light Festival”

#summervacay Lucerne, usually serene by the Reuss and lake, transforms each January into a glowing dream. Lilu Light Festival (Lichtfestival Luzern) brings around 20 magical installations to squares, bridges, and alleys—each corner of the Old Town becomes a canvas of light and story . I arrived just before dusk. The soft chime of the cathedral bells mixed with distant murmurs of anticipation. Soon enough, a kaleidoscope began: “Sea of Colours” pulsed on facades, “A Geometric Sky” danced overhead, and Phénix rose from the lake basin—all glowing in sync with gentle soundscapes . Walking between installations felt like stepping into chapters of a living fairy tale. At St. Peter’s Chapel, local music students accompanied “Short Stories” under vaulted ceilings—delicate, almost sacred . In the pop-up Flow Bar, DJs and visuals kept the mood alive till 22:00 on weekend nights . Lilu isn’t just a show—it’s a gentle invitation to slow down, to look up, and to feel the warmth of community and creativity. Eco-conscious too—the lights run on hydro-powered electricity, installations built with reusable materials, even public transport is encouraged . By festival’s end, Lucerne returns to its quiet self. But for those ten winter nights, it shines—with art, curiosity, and a sense that, sometimes, darkness is best painted in colour.
