Sichuan Luzhou - Longnao Bridge

Check in at Longnao Bridge This century-old bridge was built in the Ming Dynasty. After several repairs, it still stands today. It is the largest existing dragon-carved stone slab bridge in China. The bridge runs from north to south and is 54 meters long. The eight piers are carved with four auspicious beasts: a unicorn, a green master, four dragons, and a white elephant. There is a dragon carved on each of the four middle piers, with the dragon's head and tail on the east and west sides of the bridge. The east side of the middle bridge is engraved with the four characters "dragon hidden Jiao Fu" and a sword, which is quite spectacular. Walking on the bridge, you can see the auspicious beast at the bridge head raising its head and opening its mouth to face the upstream of the river, as if roaring. In fact, this is another function of the bridge: a warning. During the flood season, the water level rises and the current is turbulent. The stone ball in the faucet will be impacted by the flood and rotate, making a sound, which reminds pedestrians crossing the river. One can't help but marvel at the wisdom of the ancients.
