Each one is very unique and the price is not too expensive. There are also many century-old shops in the market, such as tofu, pickles, and Kyoto small items. If you want to bring some specialties home, it is also a good place to visit. Although the crowds are not small, most of them are tourists and local Japanese people. It is not too crowded, but it feels very local.
