Review of Kifune Hiking in Kyoto

On this trip to Kyoto, I wanted to try something new. I decided to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and recharge at "Kifune." Let me tell you, it was the best decision ever, especially in June when the weather is just perfect. Starting from Demachiyanagi Station, I took the Eizan Line, a slightly vintage train, and enjoyed the scenic views along the way. In no time, the cityscape transformed into lush green forests. Upon arriving at Kibuneguchi Station, I began the uphill hike. The path was a bit steep, but with the cool weather and the sound of the flowing river accompanying me, it was a delightful and effortless walk. Once there, you must visit all three shrines, each offering a unique atmosphere: - **Main Shrine (Hongu):** Here, I tried the water fortune-telling ritual. You place a blank fortune slip on the water, and the characters gradually appear—such a fascinating experience. - **Yui no Yashiro Shrine:** The middle shrine, known for love blessings, has a serene and peaceful vibe. - **Inner Shrine (Okunomiya):** A bit further in, you'll find the oldest and most sacred shrine surrounded by towering ancient trees. The highlight of the trip was enjoying bamboo somen noodles, or "Nagashi Somen." The restaurant is by the river, and you sit with your knees bent, catching the somen noodles as they flow down a bamboo chute. It was so much fun and absolutely delicious. The sound of the flowing water and my own laughter made it a truly heartwarming experience.
