Kumamoto Suizenji Ezu Lake Park: A Tranquil Time at the Banana Grove and Haiku Monument

The Banana Grove in the Suizenji Ezu Lake Park's spring area is a serene corner surrounded by natural greenery and spring water. Strolling through, you can see rows of banana leaves swaying gently in the breeze, their reflections on the lake creating a cool and poetic scene. This spot is not only an ideal summer retreat but also rich in literary atmosphere—haiku poet Takahama Kyoshi once visited here and composed the haiku 'Streams intertwine, banana grove.' The haiku monument is now located on the north side of the former Sandatori residence, quietly witnessing the moments of harmony between the Ezu Lake's water veins and poetic sentiments.
