splendid decorations such as carvings

This is a shrine built by Iemitsu, the third Tokugawa shogun. The first shogun, Ieyasu, is enshrined on the right, and the second shogun, Hidetada, is enshrined on the left. There used to be a large temple called Daitoku-in that was closely related to the Tokugawa family, and in 1643, about 380 years ago, the Tokugawa family mausoleum was completed within the precincts. it has the same mausoleum structure as Nikko Toshogu Shrine, and is an important cultural property with detailed carvings and decorations throughout
