It is an ancient temple that was built over 300 years ago. According to legend, Phraya Kaem Dam, the ruler of Sai Buri, wanted to find a location to build a new city for his sister. So he took a risk and prayed, letting an elephant travel into the forest, with the ruler and his soldiers following him. One day, the elephant stopped at a certain place and roared three times. Phraya Kaem Dam took it as a good sign and wanted to use that area to build a city. However, his sister did not like it, so Phraya Kaem Kham ordered a temple to be built in that area instead, and named it Wat Chang Hai. He invited a monk, whom the villagers called Than Langka, Somdet Phra Kho, or Luang Pho Thuad who stepped on the fresh sea water.
