The stunning glacial lake of Derwentwater

#wheretogo I spent 1 week exploring the Lake district in England. One of the most stunning places in that journey was Derwentwater in Keswick, Lake District. The lake beckons with its serene beauty and rich history. Encircled by lush forests and picturesque mountains, it offers a tranquil escape. This glacial lake dates back to the Ice Age, a testament to Earth's ancient past. It has inspired poets like English poets like Wordsworth and artists like Turner. Exploring Derwentwater means delving into a landscape steeped in natural and cultural significance, ideal for hiking, boating, or simply savoring the serene charm. If you want to discover timeless beauty and stories of old, visit this enchanting corner of the Lake District. Highly recommended!

Castlerigg Stone Circle

Castlerigg stone circle is 3 kilometers 37 minutes from Keswick by walking or you can drive there limited free parking on the road side. It is open 24 hours with no entrance fee. Castlerigg was built 4000 years ago by prehistoric farming communities for providing a setting for rituals or ceremonial activities, social exchanges and the movements of goods. The rectangle stone setting within the circle known as sanctuary, is likely to be a later addition to focus attention upon one part of the circle. Sheep is around the site, so there is a stone wall to surround it. Children can play with the sheep and climbing on the stone.
