This volcanic wonder is famous for its three crater lakes, each changing color unpredictably due to mineral reactions beneath the surface. One moment they’re turquoise, deep green, and black—next time, they might be brown, red, or even white. Nature’s magic at its finest! This was my favorite place I visit in whole Flores island. It’s takes about 30 minutes to hike up to the lakes from the parking lot. Beyond the view, Kelimutu holds deep cultural significance. The local Lio people believe these lakes are the resting places of spirits—one for the young, one for the old, and one for those who lived with uncertain paths. ✅ One of Indonesia’s most unique landscapes ✅ A surreal, ever-changing natural phenomenon ✅ Easy hike with a huge reward at the top If you’re in Flores, skipping Kelimutu would be like visiting Paris and ignoring the Eiffel Tower.
