The Three Durbar Squares of Kathmandu

There are three Durbar Squares in the Kathmandu Valley, and they are easy to visit: ✨Kathmandu Durbar Square The most famous attraction in Kathmandu, and one of the must-see places in the city. However, it is my least favorite of the three Durbar Squares, as it is the most commercial and noisy. Getting there: 10-minute walk from Thamel Tickets: NPR 1,000 (If you go early or arrive after dark, you can probably enter without a ticket, as it is an open area) ✨Patan Durbar Square Patan is probably the oldest of the three royal cities. The exploration of this small city also starts from Durbar Square, but this square is really small, so if you want to save money, you can just walk around the perimeter and get a rough view of it from the alleys. There is also a great cafe called Drishya Restaurant, which is not cheap, but has a great view of the entire square from the rooftop. Getting there: Local bus for NPR 25📌Search for Ratna Park Micro Bus Stop (white minibus, usually crowded) Tickets: NPR 1,000 ✨Bhaktapur Durbar Square A large ancient city with three areas, and a variety of ancient buildings and temples. I highly recommend staying here overnight, as you may be lucky enough to see a beautiful sunset. Bhaktapur is much quieter at night without the noisy tourists. I like to sit on the steps of Shilu Mahadev - Phasi Dega Temple and enjoy the breeze. Getting there: Local bus for NPR 35📌Search for Bhaktapur Bus Station (blue and white minibus, don't ask, just prepare the exact change) Tickets: NPR 500 (Chinese passport), NPR 1,800 for others (I didn't buy a ticket, not on purpose, but because I stayed in the ancient city for five nights. I didn't know the ticket was valid for a week, so I just checked in and walked in. The next day, I went to the ticket office and found myself already inside.)
