[Pakistan] Hunza Valley, the sacred place of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind!

Hunza in northern Pakistan is popular among some as a place reminiscent of the Valley of the Wind where Nausicaa and her friends live in the timeless Ghibli masterpiece "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind". Hunza is located at an altitude of about 2400m. K2 (8,611m above sea level), which is said to be more difficult than Everest, It is surrounded by mountainous areas with the towering Karakoram Range at an altitude of 7,000m, and the Karakoram Mountains at 1,000m above sea level. From any lodging, you can see the snowy mountain ranges that you would want to put in a picture frame. Hunza Valley is basically a desolate mountainous area, but in fact, from late March to early April, it is transformed into a utopia where peaches, apricots, almonds and other flowers bloom in abundance. I visited the valley hoping to see the best time to see them, but unfortunately, when I visited in 2018, the flowers seemed to have bloomed a little early, and the best time to see them had passed... Nevertheless, the view of the towering poplar trees and peach blossoms, and the Karakoram Mountains in the background, was breathtaking. The wind was always blowing through the valley, and it really felt like a real "Valley of the Winds"! By the way, in Hunza, there is an elementary school called "Hasegawa Memorial School" built by the family of the late Tsuneo Hasegawa, a famous Japanese mountaineer, and it is a prestigious school in Pakistan. Thanks to their achievements and because Suzuki light trucks are famous, Japanese people are treated with a lot of envy and respect in Pakistan. Also, Hunza has one of the safest security in Pakistan, so it was fine to go out at night! It is also said to be a relaxed sect of Islam, and women have a high status, so women sometimes do not wear scarves such as hijabs. Regardless of the security, the road to arrive is difficult, and even a direct bus from the capital Islamabad takes a whole day.
