[Kanagawa Prefecture] Jufukuji Temple, one of the five great temples of Kamakura that retains the roots of the Genji clan

We went to Jufuku-ji Temple, located in the ancient capital of Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture. 🚶 This temple is one of the Five Mountains of Kamakura, along with Engaku-ji Temple and Kencho-ji Temple, which we visited last year. This Zen temple was built by Hojo Masako, the wife of Minamoto no Yoritomo, who built the Kamakura Shogunate and founded the beginning of the samurai government, on the former residence of Yoritomo's father, Yoshitomo. 👀 The area around Jufuku-ji Temple is also known as the land of the roots of the Genji clan! Going through the vermilion-painted mountain gate, a stone-paved approach stretches straight to the middle gate, and on both sides, trees covered in summer greenery grow, creating a truly beautiful landscape!
